Google Wave for Webmasters
If you haven’t had a chance to watch the Google Wave video on youtube, you really should. Google Wave is a brand new browser based email/IM/Social Messaging/onstop everything application that Google is set to release this year. Although it is still in the early stages, they have committed to keeping this open source to let the worlds developers further this product into its full potential (which is endless). Google Wave is a webmasters dream.
Here is the video to watch it now:
As I always say to my Poker Affiliates, keeping a watchful eye outside our industry will always keep you ahead of the game. The new Google Wave can be an absolute blessing for Poker Affiliates. Imagine being able to add wave to your site where your members are ALWAYS connected to your site and its others members. Every time they check their email, they will be one message away from coming back to your site. Every time they check their email, they can add content to YOUR site. They can add pictures, videos, and posts from anywhere.
If you already have an active forum, this will be something you will want to push HARD. I would start it now actually. Get your members to watch the wave video now and get them prepared for its launch.
If you don’t have a forum but want one, this is a great opportunity to get one started by getting your traffic to start interacting with each other via wave and use it to get the forum running.
We preach diversification constantly on our radio show, this is a great opportunity to branch out and enter into niche’s that you care about. Here’s an example:
You are a big baseball fan, and would love to get a site up about your trips to the ball game or just your favorite team. You can now get users to post their images from their trips, discuss their favorite team, etc all while adding valuable content to your site. Google Wave cuts out a lot of the work to get members actively participating in your site and its content. If they already have Google Wave, the steps to add content are already shortened enough to drastically improve conversions.
I urge all Affiliates to stay on top of Google Wave, and let their amazing new product improve your business.

Great article, I didn’t even consider it in the forum aspect – we’ve been discussing as a team which platform to build an app for, twitter or wave. One thing is for sure, a lot is going to be changing in the next few years in the search marketing business – as someone who isn’t an expert in any facet, I hope to stay on top of it by just having the guts to try.
